Position Summary:

FL115 is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Scientist in Translational Biology (In vitro & in vivo) to play a vital role in the company’s efforts to develop a range of biological assays for assessment of a novel drug delivery technology. The candidate must be independent, goal oriented, have excellent communication skills and be willing to work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. Core Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize and execute on biological assays relevant for validation of novel delivery technology (e.g. efficacy of gene therapy, biological barrier disruption, safety/toxicity)
    • Manage & engage with relevant CROs and external parties to execute assays
    • Design and execute mouse experiments and protocols
    • Maintain mammalian cell culture lines and perform downstream experiments
  • Work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary scientific team to develop experimental plans
  • Contribute to development of scientific strategy
  • Effectively communicate scientific results to the team through engaging presentations and clear, concise discussions. Document results in an ELN
  • Stay at the forefront of scientific advancements by actively monitoring current literature and sharing key insights with the broader team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Gene Therapy, Immunology or related field, with 2+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and using various delivery technologies (e.g. transfection, nucleofection, Messenger Max, RNAi etc).
  • Experience with protein and/or nucleic acid (DNA/RNA) isolation from mammalian cells and tissues, cDNA synthesis, and qPCR is essential.
  • Experience with biological assay development and troubleshooting.
  • Candidates of various experience levels will be considered. Position to be determined commensurate with experience.

Additional Qualifications (preferred but not required):

  • Experience with RNAseq and associated analysis is a plus
  • Experience with delivery technologies such as LNP, AAV, nucleic acid delivery, in vivo electroporation
  • Experience generating cell lines using lentivirus
  • Experience with various ELN systems (e.g. Benchling)
